Perform varied duties including organization and provision of a program of instruction designed to meet the needs of students identified with an emotional or learning disability
Maintain effective and positive communication with parents and or guardians
Participate and prepare for IEP and MDT meetings
Preparation of standard based lesson plans that ensure student maximum time on task.
Maintain appropriate record keeping, including but not limited to grade books, attendance, and academic progress.
Work collaboratively with peers to integrate lessons and assist in the monitoring of behavioral and emotional plans for students.
Participate in all professional development training.Maintain the overall school mission.
Work collaboratively with content area teacher, related services providers, and BIS to ensure IEP goals are met.
Maintain evidence of student mastery ( data, work samples, & documented demonstration)
Assist in the planning and writing of IEP’s, and attend IEP Meetings.
Work with all service providers to plan and write behavioral plans.
Act as the manager of your classroom by demonstrating appropriate classroom management techniques
Maintain professional obligations with certification and best practices
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and /or Core Subject Area.
Must have at least three years of experience teaching
Maryland State Certification in Special Education
